Wey Wang - Director of Photography

Wey grew up in northern New Jersey, in the shadow of New York city. He was always an avid storytelling. He also loved taking pictures. From an early age, he went through hundreds of rolls of 35mm film, shooting family vacations on a SLR. He also loved computers and technology, leading him to get a BS in Computer Science.

Upon graduating, Wey jumped on the digital revolution and bought himself a DSLR. But with every successive photo he took, he felt like the images were incomplete; they only told one part of the story. That's when he picked up a video camera and fell in love. It was then, that he decided to leave his successful career as a software engineer and pursue his dream of visual storytelling by getting his masters.

After completing his masters, he moved to Los Angeles, to pursue his dream to become a cinematographer. He has since worked on numerous narrative features and shorts; commercials; and music videos. He continues to push himself in the use of camera movement, composition, and lighting to become a better visual storyteller.

He is heavily influenced by Janusz Kaminiski; Robert Elswit, ASC; Robert Richardson ASC; Jordon Cronenweth, ASC; Roger Deakins ASC, BSC; and Christopher Doyle, ASC, HKSC.
